Welcome to the home of the first ever athletic support and cup! It was invented by Protex in 1927 and patented in 1935, long before any imitators or copiers began their work. The inventor Jack Cartledge of Guelph , Ontario, Canada was an avid rugby, football and hockey player while also working for his father John who founded Guelph Hosiery & Elastic Co. Ltd in 1907, a company which made specialized hosiery and corsets during a very progressive time in society at the turn of the 20th century.

As an athlete who played hard in serious contact team sports Jack was driven to design and develop a piece of equipment that would provide the support and protection men required in such high contact and fast action sports. The result was "Protex", which after more than 80 years continues to supply the most complete range of support and protection equipment for men, women and children in Canada and  International markets and for all sports.
